Welcome to the Relational Psychotherapy Hub!

This is a space where your therapy journey begins. My name is Dr Monika Wieliczko and I am here to help you think about your first steps in self-discovery.

The Relational Psychotherapy Hub is the state of the art psychotherapy service designed to facilitate your contemporary therapy journey. We have designed pathways in order to help you maximise the potential to take the most out of your therapy experience. These pathways are carefully selected based on your strengths and difficulties.

Embarking on a Contemporary Psychotherapy Journey

You have been feeling tense and overwhelmed for no apparent reason, although everything ‘seems fine’ on the surface and people often tell you that you were lucky in life. It might be that you don’t quite know where your emotional and physical reactions are coming from. As if your mind and body have a life of their own.

It might seem you have it together all the time but it takes so much energy to keep things going. This never-ending sense of internal pressure feels exhausting but you are not quite sure how to get out of the cycle. You might be confused about who you really are, what is your true self.

Psychotherapy is a relational experience which can help you understand yourself better. We can work together at the pace that feels right for you in a nurturing yet stimulating environment where you can discover your own truth and be guided by it rather than by the external expectations and pressures.

Psychotherapy can be an extremely rewarding experience which allows you to create more mental space for yourself so that you can live a more fulfilling life. The goal is to be more at ease with your own mind, your needs and desires, and create more satisfying relationships.

My Approach

As human beings, we need relationships to help us develop. Without them we simply cannot survive. The way we relate to each other in the therapy room is therefore a rich source of information. It tells us something about how your previous and current relationships work and what kinds of difficulties you faced growing up. I often think of the formative years as a relational template which shaped your internal experiences including the way you view yourself, others around you and the world. The way you relate to me and how we interact is therefore at the core of my practice.

I believe that the task of therapy is to enable an understanding and a connection with problematic aspects of your mind in an honest, respectful and containing manner. This in turn stimulates emotional growth and maturity.

In my work, I draw predominantly upon psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapy approaches as well as Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Internal conflicts can manifest in various forms, ranging from common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, anger and relationship problems, to more severe and complex issues such as addiction, trauma, PTSD and personality disorders. Underneath all of these symptoms lie emotions too painful to engage with. In my practice, I aim to create a safe space in which you can explore various emotional reactions and relationship patterns leading to a development of a more fulfilling way of relating to yourself and others.

In order to achieve long-lasting change in the psyche, your time and curiosity to exploring your difficulties are the necessary ingredients. In certain circumstances, a short-term intervention might be more suitable depending on your current situation and readiness. This can be discussed and agreed upon during your initial consultation.

Issues Treated

I work with a wide range of issues, from common mental health problems such as stress, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bereavement, to more complex issues such as relational trauma, PTSD and personality disorders.

However, psychological therapy is not exclusively for people meeting criteria for mental health disorders. Individuals often come to see me because they struggle with various aspects of their lives, in particular their relationships. For example, when they begin to realise that there is a reoccurring difficulty maintaining close relationships or getting stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns.

Psychedelic Integration Sessions

I also work with people who have had challenging experiences using psychedelic substances such as MDMA, LSD, psilocybin and would like to access professional help integrating and processing their experiences. This might involve both positive and negative experiences that could be related to previous traumatic events in your life.
